How to Judge Engine Failure

If your engine fails, there are generally the following situations, indicating that your engine needs to be replaced.

The ancients often said that one can see six directions and hear all directions. It does not mean that a person is witty and flexible, and can observe and analyze things in various ways. First, let’s talk about the first one:

How to judge the engine failure by observing the color of the exhaust pipe?

The color and state of the exhaust gas emitted by the engine can tell how well a car's engine is running. As a good car owner, you should always observe the exhaust color of your vehicle.

White smoke:

If the exhaust pipe emits milky white oil mist when the engine is running, the main reason is that the fuel is poorly vaporized. It will be discharged from the exhaust pipe without burning, thereby forming milky white smoke. It is more common when the engine is started in winter, which is caused by low temperature and poor fuel atomization. It usually disappears as the engine temperature increases after the engine is started. If the exhaust pipe emits a large amount of water vapor and white smoke, the engine's power will be reduced, the refueling will be weak, there will be obvious knocking sounds, and abnormal jitter, mainly due to the water vapor formed by the coolant fleeing into the cylinder or the gasoline contains moisture.

Blue Smoke:

If the exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipe after the warm-up exercise is colored or blue, it means that the vehicle's organic oil is strung into the combustion chamber and burned. This is a disease that "eats" the oil and must be sent back to the repair shop for repair. This kind of problem will not only occur in old cars if the new car has too much oil and exceeds the upper limit, but it will also cause too much oil to enter the combustion chamber to burn and produce blue exhaust.

Black smoke:

If the exhaust gas is black, it means that the gasoline mixture is too rich. Excessive gasoline mixing ratio, in addition to polluting the air, is also accompanied by high fuel consumption, weak acceleration, and easy carbon accumulation inside the engine. It must be adjusted as soon as possible.

When the car exhaust is thick black smoke, check whether the engine is shaking, whether it is difficult to start, whether there is backfire and shooting. If the above problems occur, the engine may be out of the cylinder. Check whether the spark plug and ignition coil are normal.

How to judge engine failure according to oil level change

Regularly check the oil in marine engines. If you need to change the oil, the oil color will not tell you. How many hours do you need to use the engine to decide when to change the oil. A drop in the liquid level indicates a leak somewhere.

Engine oil keeps the engine cool and lubricated while helping to keep the cylinder wall sealed and free from corrosion of components. Over time, the oil itself becomes corrosive. Waste oil will become acidic during the winter in the engine, swallow the inside of the engine, and shorten its life.

Any source of corrosion that causes oil leakage may cause the engine to jam. If your system has a leak, you may need to rebuild the engine to replace worn parts and any parts damaged by corrosion.

How to judge engine failure based on bearing wear?

Bearings help the various parts of the engine to move smoothly with each other. However, when these bearings are worn, they can cause engine parts to collide with each other and knock. Don't ignore engine knock, because it may cause the bearing to continue to wear and cause extensive damage.
How to judge engine failure based on car odor?

Burnt rubber smell:

It may be the smell of tires from overheating caused by frequent emergency braking.

Burnt oil smell:

Perhaps it is too little oil or too little variable tank oil so that the transmission is overheated and the oil drops on the hottest part of the engine.

The peculiar smell of exhaust gas in the car:

It may be a leaky exhaust pipe causing exhaust gas to enter the car.

The exhaust smells:

If the smell of exhaust gas is pungent, the carbon monoxide value of the engine may be adjusted improperly. It is best to check it thoroughly with an instrument. There are also reasons such as dirty or poor quality oil, clogged air filter or broken cylinder piston ring, etc., which may also cause the vehicle to emit unpleasant smells.

Burnt plastic smell:

Most of it is caused by the scorching of the wire sheath due to the short circuit of the electrical system.

Gasoline smell in the car:

When there is a gasoline smell in the car, check whether the gasoline pump is leaking. Generally, the gasoline pump is under the rear seat. If the gasoline smell is heavy in the car, the engine must be stopped and checked. It is recommended to drag the car to a Professional repair shop inspection. So as to avoid accidents;

If there is a strong gasoline smell when the external circulation of the air conditioner is turned on, and the engine power is not found to decrease significantly, check the activated carbon tank and the connecting oil circuit.

The last two situations are very dangerous and may cause the car to catch fire.
